About this event: Please join us for a panel discussion on the value of a public policy degree on Capitol Hill. Come hear from alumni who have leveraged their MPP degrees in successful careers on the Hill and network with other congressional staffers and graduate students. Open to WCSA members only.
Panelists:
Colleen Nguyen, Legislative Director for Rep. Kathleen Rice (NY-4). Prior to joining Rep. Rice's office, Colleen worked for Rep. Steve Israel (NY-3), starting as a Staff Assistant and working her way up to Legislative Assistant. Colleen graduated from Georgetown University's evening program with her MPP in 2010.
Emily Slack, Professional Staff Member for the majority side of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Prior to her current position, Emily worked her way up from Intern and Legislative Assistant for the Education and the Workforce Commitee. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Master's in Public Policy in 2013.
Sara Stevens, Associate Director for Health Policy at APCO Worldwide. Prior to joining APCO, she served as a Legislative Aide for U.S. Senator Michael Bennet (CO) and also has experience working in policy and regulatory affairs at a Fortune 500 company and in network television. Sara graduated with her Master's degree from the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy in 2013 after completing her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech University in 2008.
