Loc: H-137 The Capitol
Join WCSA as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary with a Founders Panel. Two of our founding members, Devon Barnhart and Elizabeth Whitney, will discuss the story of how WCSA was founded, how things have changed, and what they think WCSA's role should be over the next 10 years.
Devon Barnhart is Transportation Counsel for Ranking Member Bill Nelson (D-FL) on the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. She primarily handles infrastructure and safety issues and runs the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety and Security. Previously, she worked on transportation and infrastructure issues for Chairman Rockefeller (D-WV), Senator Lautenberg (D-NJ), Senator Specter (D-PA), and Congressman Sires (D-NJ). She also worked as a civil engineer in state government. Devon graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University and received her law degree from Penn State Dickinson.
Elizabeth Whitney has nearly 15 years of federal policy experience, starting with the American Public Works Association. On Capitol Hill she worked as an aide to Rep. Zack Space (D-OH) and served as Senior Legislative Assistant to then House Science Committee Chairman Bart Gordon (D-TN) on energy and environment issues and served as his liaison to the Blue Dog Coaliton. She spent six years at Morgan Meguire, where she led work relating to the Clean Power Plan and other environmental regulations, as well as Dodd-Frank implementation. In 2017, Ms. Whitney launched Meguire Whitney, a woman-owned firm with nearly 50 years of public policy experience.
There will be time for Q&A from the audience after their presentations. Refreshments will be served. If you have any questions, please contact Christina Mahoney at Christina.Mahoney@mail.house.gov.
