CONGRESSIONAL MANAGEMENT FOUNDATION PRESENTS

How to Sound More Confident*

(than you might actually feel …)

We all know that feeling. You have an opportunity that presents itself. It might be a big speech. Or maybe it is a job interview for a position that you really, really want. Euphoria kicks in only to be followed by … Oh. You actually are going to have to speak to an audience (or an important audience of one). How do you prepare for that? What if you’re not ready? How do you *get* ready?

In this upcoming workshop on August 9th, 2018 at 5:30pm located in the Rayburn Gold Room (Rayburn 2168), Susie Gorden, Vice President at the Congressional Management Foundation, will address these questions, and help you apply the answers to your everyday work on Capitol Hill. This session will also provide you with practical, broadly applicable skills to help you communicate more effectively AND manage the stress associated with work opportunities.

Participants will learn how to:

·        Identify the barriers that might be undermining your confidence;

·        Manage anxiety before (and during) high-stakes events; and

·        Utilize nonverbal communication tactics and other props of persuasion more effectively.
