Thirty percent of children in our Nation’s Capitol live in poverty. For many of these students, getting good grades and receiving scholarships to college is the only way out of poverty - and that can be very challenging when their school is in such terrible conditions, like so many of DC’s public schools.

You have the opportunity to improve this learning environment- and improve a child’s chances- by volunteering with us May 19th for the Hands on DC Work-a-thon. Hands on DC's biggest event is a one-day Work-a-thon held every spring. During the Work-a-thon, approximately 2,000 volunteers spend the day at one of about 30 DC public schools. Their work typically involves projects such as painting, cleaning, or landscaping.

To Join the Women’s Congressional Staff Association Team go to: http://handsondc.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1012527 and click “"Register Here” then “I agree” and then select “Join a Team” and then select “The Women’s Congressional Staff Association”.

*We will be at a metro-accessible school*
